－ The Birth of RE:KAO －
It was about 2 years ago.
I discovered a dusty sample book. I took a glimpse at it.
"They are so beautiful!" No, that’s not enough.
I should say they are gorgeous, delicate and artistic.
All of a sudden, it seems that my heart was opened.
That was a special feeling, and I want other people to feel the same.
However, when I ask my boss, I learn that those Washi (Tezome Yuzen) are almost not profitable. It is almost impossible to link up with the business partners.
It is unbelievable for me to see the gradual loss of such beautiful papers and skills. "What a waste!" I feel sorry that the artisan skills are going to disappear. They should be kept and respected forever.
Based on this mixed feeling, RE:KAO begins.
As a bridge between the maker and the customers,
I truly hope that the Japanese paper craftsmen, sellers and users will attain a sense of fulfillment when they get a touch of Washi
- To reserve the traditional Japanese crafts to the next generation through different Japanese culture events and the sales of Japanese papers.
- I believe Washi would remain vividly, as long as people get the chance to know the beauty of Washi.
